Our FLFA spiral plate heat exchangers are especially suitable for sludge, slurry, wastewater, dirt, high viscosity liquids, and liquids containing fibers and solids. Our FLFA spiral heat exchangers are applications that require challenging fluids. The ideal solution. This design allows for a counterflow that allows it to reach very close temperature methods.
Product description
Spiral plate heat exchanger
Designed and customized for the treatment of sludge, slurry, wastewater, wood pulp, high viscosity hydrocarbons and fouling fluids containing fibers and solids, our FLFA spiral heat exchanger is the ultimate for even challenging, highly viscous media. solution. Since we are using disc-shaped metal plates instead of tube bundles, we can achieve very high thermal performance without sacrificing unobstructed media.
What does this mean for you?
The core of the spiral heat exchanger is a concentric spiral disk coil nested in the outer casing. The coils form two completely separate channels with a counterflow arrangement that allows the heat exchanger to reach very close temperatures, making our screw units ideal for heat recovery applications.
In order to maintain the board spacing, we solder the spacer bolts to the coils. In addition to supporting the slats, the studs greatly promote the flow of turbulence. The free-flow options of our spiral heat exchangers are not available, sacrificing some turbulence in exchange for a large plate spacing of challenging media. These options allow us to handle any situation effectively, and we provide you with regular or free traffic channels for both parties, or a combination of both.
For spiral heat exchangers, no application or responsibility is the same, which is why we customize each of our units to your specifications. We are committed to providing you with a single, optimized solution designed to maximize uptime and reliable operation.
Easy to maintain and clean
The spiral itself also contributes to turbulent flow, and the single-channel design helps to reduce dirt through a “self-cleaning” mechanism. The accumulated sediment creates a localized rate of growth that creates a washing effect that is sufficient to relax the accumulation of dirt in most cases. This allows our FLFA spiral heat exchanger to operate over a long period of time without the need for maintenance and cleaning.
However, some media are so challenging that heat exchangers require more frequent maintenance and cleaning. With this in mind, we designed a hinged lid that was sealed with a C-clip, creating a revolving door that can be easily opened and closed without the need for any special tools that allow you to access the entire coil for inspection and cleaning.
Features and benefits
The single-channel design produces a high shear rate that helps self-cleaning and prevents local jams. The spiral heat exchanger is the perfect solution for challenging high viscosity media.
Select the runner size to accommodate the flow and quality of the media. Many variations in the diameter and width of the spiral coil allow for many different combinations, which means we can create a good solution for each task.
To handle a very aggressive temperature and a wide variety of materials and board thicknesses, we have customized each spiral heat exchanger to meet the requirements of a variety of applications.
Limited maintenance and cleaning requirements ensure extended uptime. If cleaning is required due to particularly difficult media, the hinged cover can easily enter the entire heat transfer surface.
A very compact solution, our spiral heat exchangers have only a small space requirement. Despite their short stature, the long, curved water flow path allows for extremely high heat transfer coefficients up to twice the size of their casing and piping.
